Red State Libs are THE WORST
Go live your communist fantasies in paradise and leave the rest of us alone.
I was raised in the most perfect place on planet earth- Encinitas, California. Back in the 90s, it was surreal. Quintessential crunchy surfer town where everyone drove VW buses and old mustangs to school. It was peak 90s culture- no conspicuous consumption, garage bands, you ditched school to surf. 72 degrees with an ocean breeze year round. Terrible place to be raised because your mental benchmark for weather is perfection.

I spent my single years living two blocks from the beach in HB in the early 00s. Another idealistic era, where you’re woken up on the 4th of July by your neighbor playing the Star Spangled Banner on the electric guitar, ended the day watching the fireworks by your bonfire on the beach.
I thought I would spend the rest of my life in San Clemente- close to my parents but with Camp Pendleton as a nice barrier. Then I had kids, and I knew it would never happen.
I, like millions of others, left California due to Democrat policies. I gave up paradise to live in a society that aligned with my belief system.
In my first year in Fort Worth, Texas, there were 100 days over 100 degrees. You did not want to leave the house, it was so hot. You also never walked barefoot on the grass because it was filled with red ants and spiders. You know what there is to do for fun in Fort Worth? Get on an airplane and go somewhere else. You drive for 8 hours, and guess what? You’re still in Texas, with miles and miles of ugly, nothing topography.
And democrat assholes dare to move to our unappealing red states and try to turn them blue?! Democrats run the majority of the most beautiful parts of this country, and yet millions insist on living in less appealing red states. This is why I LOATHE red state democrats. They could live their communist dreams in paradise, but can’t afford it because of democratic policies. Go figure.
When I posted this on X- a bunch of Texans got their panties in a wad, which was very surprising given that Texans are tougher than that. They own what the state is. That’s what makes it great. Texas is not for the weak. The post wasn’t about Texas, it was about Red State Democrats, but let me add some color to my Texas experience.
In 2010, we moved to Texas to protect our rights and freedoms. Then COVID happened, and Greg Abbott folded like a wet napkin. I won’t go through Hot Wheels’ COVID failures and disappointments. However, let the record show that Abbott did not open up Texas; Ken Paxton and Shelley Luther opened up Texas. I digress. In 2020, I decided that if I was going to be mad at the government, I might as well be angry at the beach, so I moved to South Carolina.
I miss Texans immensely. Texans are the best people on the planet, but I do not miss Texas.
I also miss San Diego. Every time I step off that plane and get smacked in the face with that ocean breeze, I think “I’m home.” But the drive from the airport to my parents’ place reminds me that this will never be my home again. While I’m at peace with not living there because it’s the best thing for my family, I am enraged by Democrats who can’t afford to live there due to democrat policies, and dare to try to make our safe havens just as awful and unaffordable as California.
There is a very elitist-yet-stupid disconnect on the left, where all politics are theoretical. The results of policy are generally perceived impossible to quantity outside of anecdotes, yet why measure them when you "know" you are doing the right thing, anyway?
I genuinely do not believe most American leftists even recognize the impact of their own policies. It's a childish outlook. You vote for all the crap in California or Illinois or New York, because it's righteous. Five years down the road, you look up and realize "hey, look! We could afford this 3,800 square foot house in South Carolina for less than we pay for our current aging 1,800 square foot home... Let's go!" Sure, they may be afraid of having to coexist with people who don't think like them, but they can create their own enclave of the like-minded.
Eventually, more and more of them settle in, and vote for the same policies that made them leave the blue state. Because they are righteous. And because they never bothered to examine what the tangible effects of those policies were in the first place. Ignorance is virtue-soaked bliss.
What you describe here is exactly what you see in Boise, ID as well!
